Extended maintenance to 2030 does not cover Solution Manager monitoring.Read what SAP actually says

Solution Manager EOL

Solution Manager is retiring. SAP wants you in the cloud. What if you can’t go?

Mainstream maintenance for SAP Solution Manager 7.2 ends 31 December 2027. SAP’s recommended successor, Cloud ALM, is SaaS-only — there is no on-premise version. For teams whose SAP data can’t leave the network, that’s not an upgrade. It’s a gap. LynxOps fills it, on your servers.

“We have until 2030”

Read the fine print

Business Suite 7 extended maintenance runs to 2030 and does include Solution Manager 7.2. But SAP’s own scope is explicit — it covers requirements management, project management, process management, test suite, change control management, IT service management and landscape management.

Application Operations — technical monitoring — is not on that list.

So even with extended maintenance, everything outside that scope drops to customer-specific maintenance in 2028: no new corrections, no support packages, no legal changes, no new platform support. Your monitoring doesn’t stop working. It freezes.

And SAP does have an answer

SAP Focused Run — the option nobody mentions first

Focused Run is on-premise, monitoring-specific, and stays in mainstream maintenance past 2027. If your only requirement were “keep monitoring on-prem,” it would be a real answer — and you should weigh it honestly.

It is licensed separately

In SAP’s own words, Focused Run “needs to be licensed separately,” while Solution Manager and Cloud ALM are covered by maintenance. The thing that was bundled becomes a line item.

It is a heavy install

A dedicated system with its own HANA and SAP_BASIS stack — a project, not a switch you flip.

It is still SAP-only

It monitors your SAP estate. LynxOps correlates SAP with the databases and OS underneath, and adds optional, redacted AI root-cause on top.

So the real question in 2028 isn’t whether your monitoring survives. It’s whether it freezes, or whether it starts sending you an invoice for something that used to be free.

Your 90-day path off SolMan monitoring

Cut over on your schedule, not SAP’s

Week 1–2

Deploy

LynxOps agents run next to your systems. No SAP GUI, no core modifications.

Week 3–6

Mirror

Reproduce your SolMan monitors and validate them side by side, in your own landscape.

Week 7–12

Cut over

Move alerting and reporting across. Decommission SolMan monitoring when you’re ready — not when a deadline forces it.

Your SolMan monitoring has a support end date.
Your replacement doesn’t have to be a cloud.
